About the Recipe

Often used to support respiratory health, clear mucus, and relieve conditions like bronchitis or sinus congestion, this decoction harnesses the healing power of Bloodroot. Due to its strength, Bloodroot is typically prepared in small doses, making this decoction an effective, natural way to promote respiratory wellness and cleanse the body. Whether you’re addressing specific health concerns or incorporating it into your herbal regimen, this recipe offers a powerful tool for internal support.

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup of Water

  • 1/4 Tsp of Bloodroot Powder

  • Honey or Sugar to taste

Preparation

Here are the steps for preparing a Bloodroot decoction:

1. Measure the Bloodroot: Use 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon of dried Bloodroot powder per cup of water. Adjust the quantity if you want to make multiple servings.

2. Add Water: Place the Bloodroot powder in a pot and add 1 cup of water for each 1/4 -1/2 teaspoon of Bloodroot used.

3. Simmer: Bring the water and Bloodroot to a simmer. Cover the pot with a lid and let it simmer gently for 20 minutes to extract the medicinal properties of the herb.

4. Strain: After 20 minutes, remove the pot from heat and strain the liquid to remove the bloodroot.

5. Serve: Drink half a cup of the decoction, two to three times daily, depending on your needs.

6. Store: Any unused portion of the decoction can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.

Ensure you use this in moderation due to the potency of Bloodroot, and consult with a healthcare provider if necessary before internal use.
